Where is the gap?

A beginner agent can book. A seasoned agent curates, protects, and delights.

The gap is not effort — it's pattern recognition + supplier access + confidence.

What value does a travel agent provide? (say this to customers)

  1. Saves time: 20 hours of research → 30-minute call.
  2. Saves money: avoids tourist traps, gets perks, fixes costly mistakes.
  3. Removes risk: visa, insurance, cancellation, crowd, weather, etiquette pitfalls.
  4. Upgrades the trip: same budget, better hotel, better timing, insider access.
  5. Human backup: when things go wrong, you have a person, not a chatbot queue.

OTA sells rooms. Agent sells the right trip. DIY = you do the work + own the risk. Agent = they do the work + share the risk.

Best marketing strategies (practical, works today + tomorrow)

  1. Before/after stories: "C trip vs. A trip in Kyoto" — 60-second video, real photos.
  2. Niche down: "Japan for food lovers 50+" beats "I sell everything."
  3. Supplier spotlights: monthly live / email: 1 ryokan, 1 experience, 1 tip. Short.
  4. Reviews + referrals: ask at the peak (mid-trip check-in), not after. Offer a friend perk.
  5. Re-engage past clients: 3 emails a year: anniversary, seasonal window, sold-out alert.

How we add value to suppliers

Suppliers don't need another listing. They need bookings that stick.
